Old dining room and kitchen area - that was my family at a gathering: Dad, Cousin Claudia, Aunt June, Sister Anne, and Mom.

The old dining room windows had so much condensation in them you could hardly see light thru one them.

When I went to replace them, I discovered the the entire wall was rotten and there was only one (rotten) 2x4 holding the entire roof up. So the windows were about all that was left holding it up - no wonder their seals had failed. So the whole wall had to come down - and it did!

New framing going in. I was so proud of the framing I didn't want to cover it up with drywall!

Here the windows are in and my buddy Marcus (a neighborhood boy without a father that I mentored for years) helped with the panting. (I had to repaint all the places he painted - but I didn't tell him that!)

This is the beautiful new Anderson windows all trimmed out. When I took the plastic off the pains, they were so clear I couldn't even tell there was glass there.
(Unfortunately the same was true for the birds, and a few of them smacked into them until they figured it out.)
This work was done in 2011 - 10 years before I got around to installing the new kitchen.

Now for the new kitchen. My kitchen was old when I moved in to the house in 2000. I new it was going to be a tough job (and I was right) and I finally got around to it in 2021.)
On the right is my dog Sandy and friend Don (and his dog Heidi) who helped a couple of times.

After tearing out the old kitchen, I added 6" to the space between the counters, and to do that was a lot of work! I had to extend the raised area the kitchen sits on and rework all of the plumbing.

Now to start building - I started with the floor and worked my way up.

The builder installing the final cabinets. (Installing the uppers took some moxie - not sure if this was a good day or a bad one!)

The granite guys. I got "Blue Labrado" with a mat finish which worked out great.
Other than that work they did, and some help from Don, I did it all!

Lots of work under the sink - I installed a 3 stage water filter, and on-demand, electric, tankless hot water heater, and a new low-decibel disposal.
The new range & microwave are Frigidaire. The stove has an induction top (I love it), and convection oven.

And here is the finished project. Man was I glad to get it done and get my kitchen back in action.
